Combing through photos

Fort Abraham Lincoln holds a very special place in my heart. It is a place that I spent a lot of my summers – reenacting with the 17th U.S. Infantry. Ft. Lincoln is the place from which Custer and the 7th Cavalry departed from in 1876, heading to where they would ultimately lose their lives at the Battle of the Little BigHorn in Montana.

But more importantly to me, Ft. Lincoln is where I spent a summer becoming best friends and falling in love with the man I would eventually marry. Last summer, we took our girls out there to visit. It was bittersweet for us, as it’s lost a lot of the life that it used to have. But it’s still a beautiful place.
